Art on Art
I am Constantly observing, seeing moments in everyday life that, to me, are not everyday at all, this is when those mundane spaces, objects, and occurrences become something more they become interesting, and sometimes beautiful, my only hope is that the viewer can share in this observation through my photographs and enjoy these moments as much as I do
Artist's Statement
It is not often that a high school elective evolves into a lifetime passion. Yet that is precisely what photography has become to me. In the years after my introduction to the medium, I frequently set out on the back roads of my home state of New Jersey -- armed with camera and film -- hoping that I would be the first to discover a sequestered rural landscape, or the last to lay witness to an abandoned industrial site.
When I moved to New York City in 1970, my work's template suddenly changed. Here, my camera captures city light rather than moonlight, sidewalks rather than dirt paths, and skyscrapers instead of towering oaks. Yet despite these obvious differences, my reason for photographing remains the same. I seek to capture the timelessness in our world, finding relevance in the artifacts of yesterday. As a photographer, I hope to preserve in two dimensions what we choose to discard in three. I am currently freelancing for local newspapers & accepting commissions.
